Early next week, we will celebrate Independence Day here in the States. It is the day that the USA declared its independence from England. Note that again: we declared, that in no uncertain terms, that we were free from the tyrannical rule of the King of England. The actual freedom came later (via the Revolutionary War) but hey… look at the POWER of just the intention or the act of the declaration of freedom – a national holiday! So I ask you, what do you want freedom from? “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” -Bob Marley
The truth is, most of us hold ourselves hostage. It is the prison of our own minds that enslave us.
We are own worst taskmasters. Our own worst tyrannical oppressors. But we also hold the key to the very freedom we seek. How are you keeping yourself stuck? I recently saw an old friend and he said, “Things are going great BUT it always happens… Once I get momentum to make things happen, I always get pulled backwards.” I pointed out that it is his own limiting beliefs and his certainty that this is the truth of his life, then it will be. He is holding himself hostage through this ‘story’ he is telling himself. Another man is so hung up on past relationships and afraid of getting hurt that he can’t fully embrace and the see the beauty of the life in front of him, just waiting for him to claim. He holds onto guilt, sadness and shame, unable to put that down as a wonderful woman slips through his fingers. A woman gets so overwhelmed with her life that she deems herself powerless to take any action. She imprisons herself every day through inertia because she sees her work as too much and paralyzes herself with fear. So what should they do to be set free? What should you do to be set free?
We all first need to declare our freedom and emancipate ourselves from the imprisonment of these traumas.
Say to yourself, “No more!” We first have to make the decision to be free and then take the action steps to do so. Although the colonists had to go to war, I propose a much more peaceful plan. In this week’s Energy Healing Toolkit, I give you the steps to declare freedom from the prison of your mind. Freedom is yours to claim! Set Yourself Free From the Prison of Your Mind
Declare independence from the things that keep you stuck! Here’s how you do it: 1) On a sheet of paper, identify the negative self-talk, habits and feelings that keep you stuck. If you are having trouble doing this, keep the paper with you and write it down as you catch yourself doing this. 2) Make a list of as many things that you need to. 3) For now, pick ONE that you feel is the most troublesome and keeping you stuck. I am going to use the example of “Things are going great BUT it always happens…Once I get momentum to make things happen, I always get pulled backwards.” 4) Cross it out on the list and write, ” I declare my freedom from this!” 5) Now make a list of positive affirmations to turn this negative self-talk around. Here are examples for the above situation (and could be used for yours as well): I live in the now. Each moment is new. I choose to see my self-worth. I love and approve of myself. I am powerful and always moving forward. I am safe and relax into the flow of life. I give myself permission to succeed. I am worthy of success. Life always supports me. I am worthy of financial abundance. Money flows easily to me. 5) Write these affirmations in your phone calendar and have them pop up each day. For example, make 7:00am every day pop up, “I live in the now.” At 8:00am, make “Each moment is new.” Etc.. 6) Any time you start to imprison yourself with the negative self-talk or habits, use one of your affirmations to set yourself free.
